Vessels is a photographic study of vintage bottles, hand-printed using the cyanotype technique.
After photographing the bottles, negatives created from the digital files are printed onto transparencies and laid atop art paper hand-treated with a light-sensitive iron salts solution. When exposed to UV light, then rinsed, the image is fixed to the page in a beautiful Prussian blue.
The glass bottles are delicate, yet have remained intact for decades or more with proper care. Originally holding a range of liquids - from baby formula to pain reliever later found to be toxic - each holds a story of a time now lost.
This series invites us to contemplate history, memory, and impermanence.

I use intentional soft focus and a traditional early photographic technique to support the vintage aesthetic, while simple still-life compositions emphasizing light and shadow bring a clean, minimalist flavour to the images.
